Extract | Illustration & Book design 2004 & 08

At the end of a very extensive exploration branding project, I became fascinated with halftone dots, using them as abstract textures and forming compositions. Floor covered with piles of photocopies and printouts. Too good to be left behind or thrown out, the pieces of paper which contained mistakes and overprints from previous comps remain as a record from that time. In an effort to further investigate and reveal the flaws, the print outs were collaged & cropped by hand to fit a 5x7" frame. 27 compositions were extracted from the process, each one contains different textures, scratches, attitudes & rhythms. 4 compositions were enlarged 400% and silk screened to accompany the book Extract for the US+U exhibit in NY.
